2 Sketches 4 You!

Well, I'm finally doing it! I'm finally entering this week's 2S4U sketch challenge- Laura's sketch #6. I have been an admirer for some time now, being someone who, herself, likes to create sketches, it's easy to appreciate what Laura and Kazan do over there. I have in the past used their sketches for projects (giving proper credit of course), but I haven't ever gotten around to posting on their blog.

So here it is! I've had this pp that I think is just adorable and thought this was a good chance to use it. It is double sided with subtle pattern on one side and animals printed on the other (the yellow large dot with giraffes and the small blue dot with lions, elephants and alligators). I used the patterned side for the background adding a scalloped edge and cut animals from the other side to create my own embellies. I cut multiples of the elephant and lion so that I could layer them with pop dots and create something more dimensional. I tied a wide green ribbon at the top, added some buttons, inked some edges, and a stamped sentiment, a few little stitches along the ribbon edge and ta da, baby card!

Supplies: PP: Making Memories, Congratulations stamp: Brenda Walton, Ink: Fluid Chalk by ColoBox, Scallop border punch: Martha Stewart, Other: buttons, embroidery floss, foam mounting dots

TFL, Heidi

When I read your name I thought "she must be Dutch". But no.
Your card is very very lovely. The colours are great, the 3-d animls are too cute and I love the stitches on the ribbon. Perfect. I hope to see more of your work.
